The motif of relief-like layers extends proudly and gracefully over the entire length of the picture. Countless shades of mother-of-pearl, silver, bronze and white create the overall picture. Mother-of-pearl and silver tones give the painting a shimmering character.

Petra Mitterer’s works can be characterized by the central theme of aesthetic nature observation. Her vision of mythological Arcadian landscapes translates into fantastical ‘islands of fantasy’. Mitterer integrates realistic elements into the abstract, resulting in ‘mysterious worlds of color’. She combines marble flour and natural pigments to create numerous layers and relief-like structures in her compositions, sometimes adding gold-leaf for embellishment.
