In this piece, I fused acrylic, bronze, and wood to create a sculptural portal that invites quiet reflection. The arch symbolizes passage and mystery, while the crescent moon in bronze whispers secrets of night and dreams. The deep blue background evokes calm and infinite space, filling a room with serene energy and a timeless sense of wonder. It’s meant to inspire both stillness and curiosity.
The arch is finished with pulverised metal leaf and… the lunar crescent a thin sliver of bronze. Both stand against painted backgrounds.
The back panel is MDF and has holes drilled for easy hanging.
« Inspired by events of the natural world, I put all of myself into making sculptures which I hope strike a chord and evoke emotion in those who encounter them. »
Philip Hearsey is an experienced British sculptor who has exhibited his work throughout the UK. Rather than engaging in specific theories, he is driven by an instinctive urge to progress at his own pace and focus on making things. He turns observations and visualizations into 3-dimensional realities, harnessing his specialty in sandcasting to make sculptures that engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in its own right. Hearsey's pieces showcase smart simplicity, intriguing shapes and a tactile touch.
