Philippe Gauberti’s favorite theme is duality (particularly the duality between darkness and light), confinement and freedom, as well as illusion and reality. The award-winning French sculptor’s metallic and reflective works are ‘games of reflection’, questioning the viewer on the complexity of being human. Most of Gauberti’s pieces are made with stainless steel using the technique of invisible welding, then polished to give a mirror effect. He will sometimes finish a composition with candy-colored varnish.
