I wanted to recreate this world which is more like a dream than reality.
A simple, colorful, almost childlike world, where the wind carries the kites higher than the cries of the present.
A world of innocence, gentleness, and reassuring landmarks.
This painting is not an escape: it is a resistance.
In the troubled times we are going through, where civic duty is fading, where institutions are faltering, where violence and indifference are prevailing.…
An era that seems to have reopened the doors to barbarism, like a return to the dark hours of the Middle Ages.
So I paint a child playing. A watching sun. Sails moving forward. A peaceful city in bright colors.
I choose light, poetry, the fragile beauty of simple things.
Because it is perhaps there, in this peaceful and vibrant theater, that our humanity still lies, or what remains of it...

Philippe Seigle, a painter based in France, has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Brazil, Italy, the United States, Mexico, and Morocco. Having lived in several exotic countries, Seigle was influenced by and has kept his penchant for bright colors. Describing himself as a naive colorist, his compositions feature characters whose paths intersect. His vibrant pieces are created using acrylics on canvas.
