About this artwork
In this work, I incorporated water from the source to manipulate acrylic, watercolour, and graphite, seeking to convey the fundamental rhythms beneath the earth. The central, dynamic form represents the root of life, illustrating both its vulnerability and resilience. Abstract lines are employed to reference indigenous narratives and underscore the interconnected nature of all existence. This piece is intended to evoke a contemplative atmosphere,… anchoring the environment with an enduring, organic presence that acknowledges humanity's profound connection to the planet’s primordial forces.
Phillip Roös, with a PhD in Architecture and training in painting and drawing, weaves his deep knowledge of natural forms and biophilia into paintings, drawings, and sculpture. His style merges primal, gestural mark-making with earthy palettes and tactile surfaces, blending abstraction and landscape, occasionally highlighting wildlife with near-realistic renditions. His evocative pieces awaken a primal emotional resonance and ecological memory, stirring viewers to feel an inseparable connection between humanity and the living world.
