About this artwork
In this piece, I channelled the ancient wisdom of how the unfolding of life forms, such as the oyster, creates shapes and forms through layers of acrylic, watercolour, and natural materials like sand and earth. The abstract, symbolic forms evoke the unfolding of organic matter, blending primitivism with abstract art to create a timeless dialogue. This painting radiates a calm and grounding energy, inviting you to feel connected to nature’s ever-changing… rhythms right in your space.
Phillip Roös, with a PhD in Architecture and training in painting and drawing, weaves his deep knowledge of natural forms and biophilia into paintings, drawings, and sculpture. His style merges primal, gestural mark-making with earthy palettes and tactile surfaces, blending abstraction and landscape, occasionally highlighting wildlife with near-realistic renditions. His evocative pieces awaken a primal emotional resonance and ecological memory, stirring viewers to feel an inseparable connection between humanity and the living world.
