About this artwork
Below the holly bush on the lawn the crocus bulbs have sprouted, their saffron yellow stamen are a hot accent in the coolish spring day, as we each sit and observe the emerging life, but some did not survive this long winter here. The old Rowan, much painted before, blew down one night. It was the oldest tree here, the Rowan is planted always between a Kirkyard and a manse to keep us safe from ill. Luckily for us, a single sapling branch does survives…
from old stump.
