About this artwork
I created this print by fragmenting an existing painting which you can see in the collection "shamans and symbols". I was inspired to do so by imagining to isolate the beauty of a detail and expand the idea in a print in a way that the detail could very well appear by itself and assume its own strong identity.
Each artwork is therefore available both as a complete composition and as a selection of macro-details. These close-ups are not simple crops,… but autonomous pieces, conceived to stand on their own.
For interior projects, this opens a flexible vocabulary: a main work as a focal point, and its magnified details echoed across the space—creating continuity, rhythm and a tailored visual identity.
In this particular detail I enjoy very much the texture and the colors, plus a certain hint to a human figure who is rowing in a canoe.

Pier Forlano is an multimedia artist known for his impactful expression of the concept of fragility, be it psychological, political or territorial. He uses tree bark, paper layering or model figurines and techniques that vary from acrylic to collage, from bas-relief to miniature dioramas. The main tenets of his production are sculpted paintings that add a depth to the vision. Recurrently he deals with themes of separation from other human beings, from nature and the desire to recuperate feeling and tackle unconscious taboos. Tribal art, surrealism, symbolism and graffiti art remain his possible inspirational starting blocks, together with big political topics such as environment and the populist parties. The Palais des Beaux Arts of Charleroi is presently showing two of his works. He believes that the task of an artist is to shine a light on the untold and uncomfortable or to reveal a strong emotion. His concept of fine art reclaims good composition and intensity of the message.
