About this artwork
Pierre van Dijk
art & freedom.
Abstract Expressionism.- Symbol of the free world.
" Synesthesie - Composition 1" Acryl op linnen 40x50cm Pierre van Dijk.
Synesthesia
is the neurological phenomenon in which a sensory perception inadvertently also evokes one or more other sensory impressions. Although it is not uncommon for sensory perceptions to influence each other, this is so strong in synesthesia that, for example, colors are tasted or sounds are… seen. There is also the so-called mirror-touch synesthesia, where the same physical pain is experienced when one sees that someone else is in physical pain. This characteristic of the brain is found in relatively few people. These perceive several kinds of impulses simultaneously, even if in fact they are generally generated by other senses.

« Fragile Freedom »
So far, the year 2022 has proved to be a year of shocking events and changes.
Inspired by the fragility of our freedom, artist Pierre van Dijk felt compelled to leave Impressionism and move on to Abstract Expressionism.
After all, art is the only thing that both continuously move and silently listen to the soul.
The paintings in the “Fragile Freedom” series are poetic and vulnerable,
offering a light of hope and perpetual movement in both imagination and desire.
