"Se Terra Tornassimo" is an ode to the interconnection of all forms of life. Through the interaction of the female body and the arid landscape, the project challenges us to reconsider our relationship with the Earth. Through the symbiosis of the body with the terrain, it urges us to recognize that humans are not distinct entities but integral parts of a larger natural organism, promoting a deeper understanding of our place within the intricate web… of nature.
Pietro Calligaris is a photographer and filmmaker with a background in philosophy and fine arts, trained in Bologna, Palermo, and Utrecht. He seamlessly blends fine art sensibilities with documentary rigor, employing evocative, color-rich imagery reminiscent of Renaissance painting and bearing abstract touches, often influenced by geometric and narrative traditions. His works explore themes of migration, belonging, and environmental crisis, transforming desolate landscapes into symbols of healing and renewal. Through his deeply thoughtful and culturally engaged practice, he seeks to stir wonder, provoke reflection, and move viewers with images that illuminate the human experience.
