About this artwork
POSTHUMAN is part of the POP ASSAULT POP series. It is a series that pays homage to the childhood world of those who lived it between the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. However, the characters are detached from their context and are inserted in compositions that deal with themes dear to the artist. It is therefore a work on the emotional function of childhood icons to shed light on more difficult issues. The theme of this creation is…
the Hybridization of man with the machine, sacrificing humanity to the new God: the artificial intelligence algorithm. This work recalls one of the icons of the pop world, the best-known cartoon robot of the 80s and 90s, and places it in a strictly current discourse. Man tries to overcome suffering and death by looking in the machine for an ally who, however, dominates him. To achieve this feat he is forced to cede traits of humanity in favor of mechanicalness to the point where he is no longer able to distinguish the difference.

« I take the ingredients, mix them with the filter of my sensitive soul, and express dense vital energy that tends toward purity and liberation. »
Pino Ruberto is a painter and drafstman based in Italy whose works have been featured in several solo exhibitions nationally. He describes his artistic practice as being assosiative, as he employs various elements and subjects to convey new meanings. Inspired by the classical masters, Ruberto's diverse compositions are ordered forms that are derived from and contain chaos.
