About this artwork
Manifesto of Mesmeric Art.1
In exploring the various possible aesthetics, in this series of works, I attempt to intertwine poetic choice with mesmeric randomness. Specifically, I trace lines of acrylic paint, variously diluted and deliberately juxtaposed on the canvas, not with brushes, spatulas, fingers, sponges, rollers, etc., but with various ferrous materials (iron dust, iron shavings, nails, washers, spheres, etc.) drawn by a magnet that I… manipulate under the canvas. I discover, time after time, that my desire to define a specific shape of the segment of acrylic paste is occasionally thwarted by the random and unpredictable component of the resultant between the magnet's pulling force and the obstacles of the sliding surface, the pre-prepared canvas.
The Soul said to its Image: “I will break down the walls of your doorless room, your destiny is my fate” (this is my sentence, this is me).
Pio Luigi Cecchini, a painter and conceptual artist with studies in architecture, design, art, literature, and music, uses painting and design to express his refined aesthetic. His technique eschews repetition, favoring multidisciplinarity and continuous stylistic experimentation, establishing a symbiotic dialogue between soul and image. His works convey intense emotion, surprising and moving, attempting to heal the wounds of the human soul through the power of beauty and the poetic power of aesthetics.
