Taking up pencil sketching whilst rehabilitating from a serious illness marked the start of a lifelong passion for Gerhard Silber. Interested in representations of socio-political issues, his realist paintings depict onlookers contemplating tragic scenarios, consequently encouraging us to take a moment to do the same.
