About this artwork
This work is inspired by a leaden summer day, something atypical in the south of Spain, a day that I also remember very well because there was a fire in the power station that left the entire town without electricity, at more than 40 ºC every shops closed, no one could work, no one outside, an incredibly quiet and strange day.
Raúl Lara is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, Portugal, France, and the United Kingdom. He describes his art as a search for the representation of who we are in contrast to what others see, in comparison with what we know about ourselves. Lara's recent figurative compositions explore identify and portray the interior self, as well as the self that is shown to others and the world.
