About this artwork
"Pade in Silentium" is a work that explores silent suffering and the fragility of identity. Raul Lara uses his neo-photorealism technique, fusing oil paint with image transfer, to create a visually powerful representation of the dissolution of the self. The eroded textures seen in the figure evoke the gradual disappearance of the person in moments of emotional isolation. The mixture of photographic and painted elements adds both visual and emotional… depth, making this work a tactile and reflective experience.
In this work, I explored human fragility and emotional complexity using acrylic, oil, collage and plaster. Realistic figurative elements merge with surreal touches, depicting how our inner perceptions can disintegrate and reveal what lies beneath the surface. This piece invites reflection on the duality of appearance versus reality.
Raúl Lara is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, Portugal, France, and the United Kingdom. He describes his art as a search for the representation of who we are in contrast to what others see, in comparison with what we know about ourselves. Lara's recent figurative compositions explore identify and portray the interior self, as well as the self that is shown to others and the world.
