About this artwork
My recent work explores the duality inherent in the human condition: the "self" that we show to the world and the inner, hidden self that only we know. The symmetrical composition of "Tenebris Cogitationes" evokes introspection, while the monochromatic palette suggests "dark thoughts" and fragility.
My techniques reflect this dichotomy: fluid brushstrokes contrast with textured surfaces, a product of image transfer. The initial layer represents… "the face we show", but the transfer results in a black and white evocative of the hidden "I". This tension between the refined and the raw alludes to the difference between our "online" and "offline" lives.
By using mixed media, I seek to convey vulnerability and rawness, reflecting that we are all broken, but also resilient. My art invites the viewer to explore human duality, finding beauty in our imperfections.
