About this artwork
The artist currently lives near Toledo, one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the world. Through his imagination and research into old prints and historical documents, the artist has created a snapshot of what Toledo would have looked like in 1519. Toledo Cathedral was recently completed, and the Alcázar didn't have the structure we know today, having been damaged by a fire and gradually rebuilt to take its current form. The bridges across… the Tagus had a different shape, and in those years, Toledo was so wealthy and important that it was the capital of Spain.
The atmosphere at that time was pure medieval and bonfires, smoke and mist adorned the landscape.
Work that is part of the artist's private collection.
« I think I won't have enough life to finish starting to paint. As I move forward and progress I realize there is still MORE to say. »
Rafael Carrascal García is an award-winning Spanish painter who has extensively exhibited throughout Spain, as well as in China. While working as a draftsman and technical architect, he never abandoned his passion for painting and the desire to express the subconscious. Now, as a professional artist, García’s works explore atmospheric landscapes that are filled with fantastical elements. When creating, he uses mixed media such as oils and acrylics, painting outside as much as possible.
