« It is not important to me whether I draw a Madonna or a head of cabbage. The important thing is the how, not the what. I prefer a Madonna, however. »
Rainer Söhl is an experienced painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Peru, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Italy. He describes the themes and intention behind his art as endeavoring to sensitize the contemporary perception. Söhl's expressive pieces are imbued with vulnerability, conflict, and volatility. He most often creates using watercolors, India ink, graphite, oils, pastels, and collage on paper or wood.
