About this artwork
The still life shows a soot-blackened coffee kettle, a coffee grinder, a wooden cup with a decorated handle (as used in Lapland) and a pink candle on a greenish stand on a small tabletop. On the other wall there is a small picture depicting flowers in a vase. The table stands in front of a double-winged window, which is partly fogged up and partly offers a view of a forest. This is the kind of environment you find in small wilderness huts in northern… Scandinavia, where I spent many months hiking.
Ranulf Streuff, the painter and sculptor, creates living works from wood and paint, shaped by personal memories and imagination. His technique is traditional, his style variable, always balancing between abstraction and figuration. His art conveys optimistic creativity and inspires positive action.
