About this artwork
In this work I used oil painting to create a scene of quiet anticipation and deep reflection. The figure sits motionless, almost floating, on the edge of a diving board, representing the threshold between the known and the unknown depths. The vintage style combines modernity with a touch of nostalgia, symbolizing the longing for simplicity and clarity in our complex world. By using realistic figurativism I invite the viewer to immerse themselves… in a moment of calm and personal pause to explore their own depth. This artwork brings an evocative energy to any home, an invitation to linger and reflect.
Reiner Stening, influenced by an artistic family history, expresses himself through oil and acrylic painting. His independence of style is evidenced by his focus on light and shadow, which give his work depth. Inspired by human and animal faces as well as nature, Stening addresses the changing coexistence of beings, often critically and humorously at the same time. His oeuvre reveals his striving to transfer passion to the canvas.
