About this artwork
“Octopus” is one picture from the triptych “Movement”.
All the works of the triptych are united by one idea - movement. In this work, I tried to show the most clear and decisive movement up.
The octopus's tentacles are as fluid and impermanent as human thoughts. This chaotic movement speaks of eternal change. Change of thoughts, consciousness, being. This is why I am interested in this animal. I have tried many times to portray it, but in my opinion… in this picture I managed to capture the character of the octopus most successfully.
Here I worked both on large masses of color and on small details, such as lines, which I drew for a very long time with the thinnest brush. The forms here are smoother, unlike most of my works. Drawing them, I kind of meditated and it helped me to put my thoughts in order, to think about many things.
In 2016 it won in Interregional Youth Art exhibition "Young Siberia"

Nature is the main source of her inspiration, especially the picturesque and powerful Siberian landscapes. Averina also portrays animals and industrial landscapes.
