About this artwork
In this work I investigate beige as a field, rather than as a color.
A space where layers, time and minimal temperature variations are deposited.
The painting is built on successive layers: the traces remain visible, partly absorbed, partly resurfacing. What appears quiet and minimal is actually the result of a constant tension between control and erosion, presence and disappearance.
The lighter central area is not intended as a focal point, but… as depth: something that emerges slowly, almost involuntarily, like a memory rather than an image.
The surface retains imperfections and micro-reliefs that are an integral part of the work: they record the process and oppose any idea of a definitive finish.
Beige, often perceived as neutral or warm, is here treated as a cool, contemplative shade.
A space of suspension, silence and distance.
A place to linger, rather than interpret.
I'm a self-taught painter, and what sets me apart is my free and instinctive use of color, which in my work is layered to create dense textures and crowded urban landscapes. I began with more spontaneous and light-hearted works, then evolved towards a more conscious and critical approach. At the same time, I explore abstraction with works inspired by Pollock and Rothko. My Cities are born from abstract foundations. The City as a complex organism that reflects the contradictions of our time. My series explore three great fragilities: the vulnerability of cities to climate change, the wounds inflicted by man through wars and manipulated ideologies, and the inequalities between glittering centers and forgotten peripheries. I paint universal, non-geographic cities as a metaphor for the human condition: places that bear the hopes, scars, and tensions of our time.
