About this artwork
"Venice, Rialto Bridge" is a plein air painting executed with a palette knife, in which the Venetian scene is interpreted through a luminous and vibrant palette. The famous bridge emerges with a soft and atmospheric presence, sculpted by strokes of the palette knife that build volumes and reflections without ever rigidifying the composition.
The facades of the buildings are illuminated by warm hues—orange, pink, and purple—that blend into the water… of the Grand Canal, creating a dynamic and iridescent interplay of reflections. In the foreground, the dark posts and the landing stage introduce a vertical rhythm that draws the eye toward the arch of the bridge, while the barely visible figures on the right add vitality without detracting from the tranquility of the overall effect.
The painting retains the immediacy of the plein air: light is the protagonist, diffuse and enveloping, capable of transforming the view into a sensory impression. The work combines material gesture and atmospheric sensitivity.
