Grounds I. A semi abstract acrylic paintings with a small amount of collage embellishments. Drawn from a recent visit to a property in Sardinia during an art residency. The visual describes the story of a building and what happened within it. Taking the story outside and into the grounds. The panel has been left unvarnished and is strung straight to hang.

One of the key themes in Rian Hotton's art is his choice of palette, with which he happily takes risks. While he paints, Hotton listens to audiobooks on a wide range of topics, which influences the subjects of his pieces, almost as if they are a visual diary. He describes his painting style as 'boldly unorthodox', using both oils and acrylics.
