About this artwork
"Gotham" oil on canvas made with a knife is a work started in 2019 just before the covid epidemic. Left in a corner of his studio, Richard Dubure took it over and completed it in 2023.
Recurring theme with the painter: the loneliness of man in the city. The perspective and the light guide our eyes towards an unknown future, the uncertain, the encounters, the imagination and undoubtedly our destiny. Some may also see it as a mystical journey or an… invitation to hope.

RICHARD DUBURE – Professional painter.
Richard was born in 1952 in Paris. He has lived in Ussel (Corrèze) since 1979.
It was naturally through contact with his father Gilbert, a painter, that he began to work on painting and quickly asserted his personality. He presented his first work to the public in 1973. Since then, he has exhibited regularly in various artistic events in France and abroad.
