About this artwork

"First Day of Spring" is an abstract color field painting based on experiencing the colors, light wind, chill warmth, brightening sunlight, greening of the willows, brilliant white flowers against a cobalt sky, lenghtening of days, and interior hopefulness of the return of life in its seasonal fullness.

The rich paints used in the work are from Zecchi Colori, an ancient arts materials supplier in Florence.
