About this artwork
This piece is from a series of collage works made up of old experimental, over worked or paintings that just didn't sit right. The works are cut up re arranged geometrically then sections are repainted, creating a new composition and giving the old work a new lease of life.

Richard Shipley is a painter and draftsman based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England, the Netherlands, France, and Israel. In his series 'Oriens', signifying east in Latin, is the title of one of his abstract series. Through which, he conveys his fascination with the manner that light reflects across the urban environment, capturing the energy and textures of the sun rising "to light up a new day".
