Richard Silvaggio is an artist who was born in Australia and resides in Italy. Early in his artistic career, he was drawn to the grotesque, the bizarre and the ugly. Now, he has all but abandoned the use of colour in his work and creates primarily using black, white and shades of grey. This minimalistic grace is ever-present in his pieces that convey the subtleties of texture, the female form, and the subject's "eternal repetition of the gesture".
