Project 'Please Like Me' 2018 - 2019
As an artist, being confronted with the phenomenon of an apparent tendency for getting approval on your work, your social media accounts, on whatever you do on the internet, in the form of likes. I read and see that this has an enormous impact on people: Being liked is the best.
Forgetting that it’s almost always by persons you don’t know, even never heard of.
Estranged – unsure – for sure it’s weird!
Peoples… lives depend on it, young people fall out because they are not enough liked!
It triggered my imagination to start a project on this subject: A series of large works on paper, trying to find the essence of what this phenomenon is about.
(All the works, 100 x 70 cm, are created on acid free cotton paper made of rags)
