About this artwork
This painting is inspired by misty morning walks in the woodland where I live in the UK. It explores the magical shadow and light veils that are perceptible at this time.
My wish is for the viewer to experience a sense of encountering the presence of this ancient shadowy Beech tree and the Holly growing symbiotically under it, almost as if they were unique Beings met on a walk, emerging from the mist.
I walk and cycle in these woods daily and they… have become a primary source of inspiration for me as an artist. As a landscape painter, my direct contact and relationship with this community of trees provides a rich area to explore both visually and in a meditative sense.
