In between painting the stories of the "Lucky People" Anne Risum likes to empty the room and invite the viewer in to the painting that is mostly occupied with the characters that she is portraying. This is a much needed brake for her as well as an invitation to step in and see everyday objects from a whole different perspective.

It was stumbling across an exhibition in Hamburg in 1992 that defined Danish artist Anne Risum's artistic path forward. Blown away the details and stories, she set off creating her own style of figurative oil painting. Working mostly off photographs, her drawings, prints and paintings form strong portraits marked by interesting characters and perspectives.
