These prints have had a major influence on Western visual arts.
Vincent van Gogh had an extensive collection and used a number of prints as
starting point for his paintings.
The images indicate the start of globalization.
The beginning of the opportunity to travel and get to know other cultures.
However, Regeer does not use the prints to copy them… indiscriminately.
He is inspired by them. He manipulates photographed landscapes himself
and turns the images into a completely new work in Photoshop; sometimes with
unnatural color shades. These unnatural areas of color refer to thedigital image.
This image is copied layer upon layer; it is turned into an emotional one image. From a distance, the work has the appearance of a digital image; up close
we recognize the painter. Layer upon layer in fine nuances; sometimes with some relief.

Rob Regeer is an artist based in the Netherlands whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Belgium. Through his works, he endeavors to convey and develop his own personal visual language. In addition, Regeer cites nature as playing an important role in his artistic expression. He does not employ realistic colors in his compositions, rather, he allows emotions to determine the color palette.
