About this artwork
These photos revisit some of the works of the famous female artist Misstic (1956-2022) and pay tribute to her. They are taken in Butte-aux-Cailles, a district of the 13th arrondissement of Paris that she frequented a lot, and which is one of the Parisian districts most emblematic of her art.
The door of this café-bistro is flanked by two drawings by Misstic. The words that accompany these drawings specify the glamour register ("Assurez-vous contre… le hasard"; "Un regard est si vite arrivé"). In the center, our gaze is drawn to the furtive legs of a woman who has just crossed the threshold of the café, apparently in a hurry to join the person with whom she has a "date". How can we imagine that this is not a romantic date?
