About this artwork
Following on from Vintage Curves, which was a mixture of different makes of car, I wanted to produce a piece based on one brand and arguably Ford is the archetypal car company of the twentieth century. I decided to not put the cars in straight lines in order to create more movement in the painting. It is as much about the colours bouncing off against each other as it is about the many beautiful shapes of car through the ages. I particularly enjoyed…
painting those streamlined Fords from the 1940s and 1950s, although it was also interesting to feature the contrasts between American and European Fords. It was painted in acrylic and took me two or three months to create.
