About this artwork
This 20 x 20 in. gallery wrapped piece is another in my text/numbers series. After initially doing a few thumbnail sketches of a basic composition and which text elements I want to include I proceed to work on the canvas. I chose sixes, nines and zeros because of their bulbous shapes and how they play together in a design and their inherent connotations. The composition is painted complementary colors of blues/oranges. The composition is a basic…
grid pattern with bright orange textured lines bordering the area, enclosing the text as if its being contained. The text is finished in shades of Naples yellow the interior of the text is finished in individual brushstrokes in a wavy pattern to give movement to the constrained and trapped text. The top left corner paint is scratched back to reveal the color contrast underneath. This is a gallery wrapped canvas with edges painted in black with artist signature on the right edge. It is wired in the orientation shown and ready to hang.
