About this artwork
Stromness is the second town of Orkney, a remote collection of islands off the North coast of Scotland.
It straddles the coast so there are many quays with fishing tackle and boats of every conceivable size and shape. From an artistic point of view it provides the artist with a rich source of forms and colors and he has done many paintings of the general detritus that accumulates.
In this painting the focus is on the collection of warehouses in… the background with the suggestion of ropes in the foreground.
