About this artwork
Always cognisant of the classics this group pose suggested the Sirens to me luring Odysseus and his sailors onto their islands. With the sailors placing beeswax in their ears and tying Odysseus to the ship's mast the Sirens were denied their company. Adding the Wooden Horse of Troy as a further emblem of deception concluded the work. In this piece, I explored the tension between vibrant, geometric abstraction and the raw, emotive power of the human… form. Using oil paints, I sought to capture a dynamic interplay of movement and color, blending realism with elements of pop art and geometric stylization. This artwork dives into the complexities of human interaction, emphasizing the push and pull of relationships through bold shapes and striking figures. It's crafted to evoke a sense of both energy and contemplation, making it a compelling focal point in any space.
Born in Scotland, Robert Walker utilizes oil paints on canvas to craft his masterpieces. His style, described as 'geo-figurative,' employs abstract expressionist techniques in conjunction with traditional verdaccio for flesh tones. His compositions, a blend of organic and geometric forms, stimulate viewers into partaking in the narrative of his subjects, evoking a deep understanding of the figure's semiotics. Enjoying also word play and quirk-created moments he also employs narratives within a still life and landscape environment, often with a heart theme to express his love for others and life.
