About this artwork
"Oppression and Freedom" was born in 2020, a year that profoundly shook our certainties. With this work, I wanted to give form to the contrast between forced constraint and the innate human need for escape and hope.
The Concept: The canvas unfolds through surreal and psychological symbols. A small living creature with a yellow beak and watchful eyes emerges from the darkness, embodying the vulnerability and sense of captivity of those months. All… around, however, windows and arches open toward blue skies: openings of light that represent freedom and the desire to fly again. The contrast between the dark greens and the bright flashes speaks of the struggle between feeling imprisoned and resisting.
Technical details: Original oil painting, year 2020. Framed in a precious classic gold frame that enhances its dramatic intensity.
A work full of meaning, a mirror of an indelible historical moment.
My name is Roberto Costantini, aka Roby.ni. Since 2014, I've been transforming the invisible into matter. My journey as a self-taught artist is guided by a unique perspective: I'm colorblind. This condition isn't a limitation, but rather my strength: it frees me from aesthetic canons to make room for a pure, unconventional chromatic instinct.
My motto is "I color my emotions." My painting is never planned, but is born from profound connections with the divine: moments of inspiration in which I become a channel for a higher energy. Each of my works is a fragment of the soul, a bridge between the everyday and the sacred.
With approximately 63 works under my belt and several solo exhibitions, I bring my inner vision to the homes of those seeking vibrant and authentic art. I don't paint what I see, but what I feel. Welcome to my world, where color is the voice of the spirit.
