About this artwork
The painting was inspired by a photograph the artist took while walking along the Wiese, a river that flows from Germany and empties into the Rhine near her home in Basel, Switzerland. At the time it was early spring and the trees were still bare. The artist began the painting by blending the background colors. She then sparingly applied paint over them, using a resist technique. The organic forms of the branches were then painted on top. In “April”…
