About this artwork
In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. In applying dots of acrylic to the canvas, the artist can only stand back to appreciate the work after it is finished. It is an extremely time consuming way of painting, which often leads to surprises. When the artist reflected on what she had made, she immediately saw a waterfall, thus the painting’s name, “Cascade”.…
The painting contains multiple colors including various shades of silver, red, and blue. Its sides have been painted a dark blue-black, so it has a finished feel. It is also stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
