About this artwork
In “Companion” the focus of the painting rests with two birds that look to one another. Robin Ballard began the painting by applying several colors of blue to the background. When dried, she drew twelve circles and painted around them using a peach-colored acrylic. Then, with a fine brush, she painted in the two birds. The artist feels there is a story between these two figures, but that is up to the viewer to decide for him or herself what it might…
be. The painting is part of the artist's Habitat series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. Robin Ballard enjoys the play between abstraction and realism, and is especially fond of painting birds.
