About this artwork
In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. She imagined and then composed the painting using abstract shapes and layers of paint, both textured and flat. The word connectivity evokes associations with the computer age, microchips and motherboards, as does the painting’s imagery to a certain extent. But on closer examination the viewer will notice that the lines…
are shift angles, and the forms are not squared. There is rather an organic feel to the shapes and textures. The artist intention is to represent the connectivity of nature. The sides of the painting have been painted, so it has a finished feel. It is also stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
