About this artwork
“East Wind” began as a small drawing in the artist’s sketchbook. Months later she drew it onto a stretched canvas and began to paint using a watery mixture of acrylic. This method of painting enables the colors to mix together in stunning and unique ways. The result contributes to the illusion of fluidity and movement within the painting. “East Wind” is part of the artist's “Elements” series. This series is an abstract interpretation of chemical…
elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. The sides of the painting have been painted, so it has a finished feel. It is also stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
