About this artwork
The idea for the painting had been with the artist for some time. She saw in her mind's eye a starless sky set against a dark forest. Within the forest an inviting light glows from a window. This was the beginning for the painting “Hearth.” It is, in essence, a simple concept but it is full of meaning. Is the viewer chancing upon the light in the forest, as so many protagonist in the Grimm's Tales? Or is the painting symbolic of hearth and home,…
protected against a harsh world outside? The artist, herself spends time in a cabin in the Swiss mountains. There, she enjoys the simplicities of life and the pleasure of sitting before a warm fire. The painting is stretched on a wooden frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
