About this artwork
The artist, Robin Ballard, is inspired by nature as she walks through forests, along waterways and into marshlands. Mirror, Mirror could be seen as an abstract painting, but it is based on what the artist experienced. It was painted after she walked a canal, which runs parallel to the Wiese River. The water in the canal was still and the reflections from the trees and plants growing along side the water created interesting and somewhat familiar…
botanical shapes. This painting is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
