In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. The artist began "Orbit" by applying layers of paint, such as a deep blueish purple, copper, yellow and turquoise to the canvas. While still wet, she scraped the colors away creating an intriguing and complex surface. She then poured light copper paint onto the canvas, adding in drops of florescent yellow acrylic. The…
