About this artwork
In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. In "Rain" hexagon shapes at the top of the painting appear to be falling downward against a blue background. The hexagon, as with other geometric shapes, imply a sense of logic or mathematical calculation, and yet within these perfectly formed shapes the colors seem to flow into each other in a very haphazard or organic…
way. This kind of painting technique is achieved by the addition of water. The sides of the painting have been painted and it is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
