About this artwork
The painting “Rooftop” is based on the view outside the artist's studio. Looking through two large windows, the artist is consistently amazed by the ever changing sky. This painting was based on a particular evening when the sky turned from blue to a dramatic pinkish-purple. As the sun was setting the surrounding buildings appeared dark, almost in a silhouette form. The sky was created by layers of watered down acrylic paint so the forms of the clouds…
have a soft feeling and appear to reflect light from below. In a sense, the sky itself is the roof top to the world. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
