About this artwork
In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. Science is a broad word but it is defined as “practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.” In the painting “Science”, copper-colored forms are reminiscent of glass volumetric flasks and tubes used in laboratories.…
These are set against a dusty blue background and three three organic shapes. The painting for the artist represents our attempts to classify and understand the natural world, including ourselves. The sides of the painting have been painted, so it has a finished feel. It is also stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
