About this artwork
The artist has always held a fascination for islamic patterns. She often wanted to incorporate them into her work, but hadn't done so until she painted “Spring”. At the time, she had been working on several butterfly paintings, and the pattern of circles on top of circles, reminded her of simplified forms of butterflies in flight. Not wanting the foreground or background to become too visually dominant, the artist chose to work in light colors. The…
background was created by using acrylic paint, but its application was similar to that of watercolor. The pattern was created by an innumerable series of dots. This painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.

« My art is associative. It’s how I interpret the world around me. »
Robin Ballard is an exciting Swiss painter who has exhibited her work nationally. In her paintings, she primarily reflects on contemporary issues such as migration, the rise of China and global dependency on crude oil, seeking not to impose any particular stance but rather to provoke thought and introspection. Ballard additionally enjoys the play between abstract and realistic representation, expertly navigating both to compose a body of work that showcases impressive diversity across a range of styles, subjects and forms.
